The main upper terrace is south facing and therefore tends to benefit from lots of sun in Spring and Summer. To provide some respite, we have a large white sail canopy strung out in the hotter months providing shade if you want it. If it does rain a little, you can of course still stay outside under the canopy. With lots of space, this area is deal for a BBQ meal, sitting outside round the wooden dining table or just enjoying a ‘night cap’ of local wine before bed. Sit back, relax, enjoy the quiet and at night, star gaze to your heart’s content. By summer 2013, there will be a fully functioning wood fired pizza oven built on the upper terrace for guests to use (see NEWS page for details).
The smaller lower terrace is also good for having breakfast, lunch or just some privacy to read or catch some sun. This also has a sun canopy (you’ll find in the cave) but this terrace tends provide shade from the sun for longer than the upper one does.
The lavender beds either side of the stone steps are usually in bloom from early June so the fragrance should provide an accompaniment to a days lounging outdoors with the Cicadas in the background. There are loungers, chairs and a hammock to set up amongst the trees if you want to laze away the afternoon with a good book and a cool drink.
